Foreman's passing was confirmed in an Instagram post by his family which read: "A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.
"A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply respected - a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name - for his family.
"We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honour the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own."

Foreman's life was as remarkable outside the ring as it was inside. He leaves behind a staggering net worth of $300 million (£236.24m), two-thirds of which came from his trademark George Foreman Grill.
Since its launch in 1994, over 100 million units have been sold worldwide. In 1999, Foreman was paid $138 million (£108.6m) by Salton, Inc., for the rights to use his name.
Prior to this, he received 40 percent of the profits from each grill sold, which at its peak, earned him roughly $4.5 million (£3.54m) a month.
George Foreman, the boxing legend, amassed over $200 million from his famous grill, far surpassing what he earned from his illustrious boxing career.
His professional boxing career saw him secure 76 wins and suffer five losses - including against Muhammad Ali in the infamous 'Rumble in the Jungle'. At the height of his career, his net worth was $5 million (£3.94m).

Foreman's family life was pretty astounding, too. The multimillionaire entrepreneur had a huge family, stemming from five marriages which led to 12 children and 15 grandchildren.
Foreman's marital history includes Adrienna Calhoun from 1971 to 1974, Cynthia Lewis from 1977 to 1979, Sharon Goodson from 1981 to 1982, Andrea Skeete from 1982 to 1985, and then his marriage to Mary Joan since 1985.
Foreman had seven daughters and five sons. Incredibly, all of Foreman's sons bear his name - George Edward Foreman. The sons are differentiated by nicknames: George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey").
Foreman shared with 'Good Morning Britain' in April 2023 his desire to carry on the family name, saying: "It just keeps coming up. I don't want the name to die."
Foreman was inducted into both the World Boxing Hall of Fame and International Boxing Hall of Fame. He became a Christian minister his home state of Texas, and even expressed a bizarre bucket list dream related to Scotland.
