I was not ready for this to be so... Godzilla.

What we have here is not a Monster vs. Monster movie, and while I can see how you would be upset you don't really get it, I was pleasantly suprised.

Honestly, this movie is like 90% political thriller about the corrupt US Government and the corrupt Russian Government corrupting at each other while a bunch of players and pawns are moved around. A Mega Shark and a giant doomsday bot called Kolossus at the center of it all. Throw in some evil corporations and you got yourself a meal.

However this movie borrows heavily from Godzilla. Specifically the…

    1. A sequel to a movie released by Syfy.

Guys, I am a huge fan of this series. Like a huge fan. It saddens me that this is the last movie I needed to see before I could say that I have them all. Yet, there is another sort of bittersweet involved. The movie let me down. Sure, there was a Mega Shark and he was as mega as ever. It just seemed rushed. The cast, while they tried, they aren't my favorite cast in this series. It was also weird to see Mega Shark go against a Cold War-era robot. Look, I love Cold War influenced movies but this was just…

I mean sure this was bad, but whatever it wasn’t excruciating or anything, because everyone in this seems to actually be trying. Compare this Asylum film to the early studio efforts like Transmorphers, and the production value, lighting, acting has absolutely risen in quality over the years. I think Asylum is very slowly working their way towards legitimate b-movie studio greatness, they just need to find some creatively inspired hungry directors to find some fresh concepts and passion. Studios like this are gonna find the next Sam Raimi, Stuart Gordon or Eli Roth, and dammit, we NEED that.

There have been many cinematic achievements in humanity's time, Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Parasite, The Sharknado Franchise, but none of them can even come close to what is quite possibly mankind's greatest creation in Mega Shark vs Kolosous. A couple of years ago I watched the earlier masterpiece Mega Shark vs Crocasauras, but this film doubles in quality levels from it's preqeuls.
Mega Shark vs Crocasauras had a vague plot where it was easy to follow, Mega Shark vs Kolosous decides to break cinema trends and just not include a plot at all, Tarantino could never.
I love the absolutely wonderful cinematography techniques where the camera went out of focus every time it stayed on a person for other…

"Business first. Sex and violence later."

Illeana Douglas, my quirky indie darling, what the hell are you doing here? I kinda love it, but damn, you deserve so much better. Somehow, this ends up being the best of the four. It is limping and struggling to get this high score, but it did get there. It ends with a post-credit scene with the promise of a fifth movie. It's almost ten years later, and it hasn't happened, and I am actually a bit sad about that. After the last two movies, I want to see what nonsense they smash together next because it kind of feels like a kid mixing his toys in a sandbox and letting them fight. And…

Not so much shot in an iPhone as shot on an Edison phone.
    Sheeshz.
Kept hoping "Grace Of My Heart" would sit down and write a ditty to help the big Iron Man get along better with ol' Poor-Res-MegaByte-Shark.
    But did not happen.
Poor planning by the writers there.

This really is the best Mega Shark movie. It is like, an actual movie, with a coherent plot and good moments. It's not like, good or anything, but it does escape that god awful quality barrier of Asylum movies, just like Sharknado 2, 3 and 6. It is a genuine enjoyable and honest experience, so I think it is fair to judge it as such.

I felt Kolossus was a pretty underdeveloped concept. So much of the story involves this Russian super weapon, but we don't really get to have time to care about the supposed treat it presents. It destroys what? A village? I didn't really get the impact and the danger of such a thing being set free,…
